Night Sweats and Hot Flushes

The properties of DermaTherapy bedding make it an ideal sleep surface for those people who suffer from night sweats or hot flushes, including:

  • Women going through the menopause
  • Patients undergoing chemotherapy
  • Patients with Parkinson’s Disease
  • Exercise and Workout Enthusiasts

There are also people who are naturally prone to episodes of night sweats. All of these people may suffer disturbed sleep.

Why It’s effective

The uniquely shaped micro-fibres channel moisture away from the skin and distribute it evenly over the entire surface of the sheet. As the moisture evaporates, the wetness and clamminess associated with night sweats is reduced, resulting in a sleeping surface that stays dry and cool throughout the night.

DermaTherapy Bedding is designed to be smooth and soft - minimising friction with the skin, unlike cotton and poly-cotton sheets.

The durable antimicrobial treatment helps maintain freshness and eliminates odours on the fabrics caused by bacteria.

DermaTherapy Bedding Proven Performance

A recent independent study shows that DermaTherapy Bedding can effectively relieve the discomfort associated with severe night sweats and hot flushes. Substantial improvements have been seen in the amount of uninterrupted sleep, skin dryness, the ability to keep cool and dry, the amount of sweating and the overall level of comfort.

28 women suffering from hot flushes and night sweats were enrolled in the study. Sleep quality was measured using the Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index at commencement of the study and at weeks 2, 4 & 8. An assessment of their quality of life was also made by questionnaire at the same time periods.

Participants in the study went from an average PSQI score of 9 (poor sleep quality) to 4.2 (good sleep quality) in the 8 week study. Certain elements of the PSQI scores generated significant improvements with “Time needed to fall asleep” and “waking in the middle of the night” both scoring significant reductions. Participants also reported an improvement in their daytime functions.

Improvements in quality of life were perceived almost immediately with the majority of the benefits felt in week 2 continuing on through the remaining 6 weeks.

The study concluded that state of the art fibres such as DermaTherapy can be used to dramatically enhance the therapeutic properties of bed linens in the management of hot flushes and night sweats associated with menopause. To do your own pqsi score click here.
